How to Set Location and Prayer Times?
For correct prayer times, location permission, time zone and calculation method must be checked together. This guide offers the safest order for the initial setup.
Solution in 30 Seconds
- Keep location permission set to "Always" or "While Using the App".
- Verify your city selection automatically or manually. City search is done with Google Maps/Places; coordinate-to-city mapping (geocoding) is processed on the device whenever possible.
- Choose the prayer time calculation method appropriate for your region.
Step by Step
iOS
- Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Vaktim.
- Turn on location and enable precise location.
- Check the city and time zone within Vaktim.
- Update the calculation method and save the change.
Android
- Settings > Apps > Vaktim > Permissions.
- Enable location permission and exempt the app from battery optimization. The battery optimization exception is mainly important so that adhan notifications trigger exactly on time; for notification timing and exact-alarm permission, see the Turning On the First Notification / Adhan Settings guide.
- Refresh the location within the app.
- Verify the prayer time method and check it again.
